Dubital

Biography

Dubital is the first Italian Dub project band that began its journey with the help of veteran international Dub producers like Mad Professor and Zion Train. They started in 1992 as a dub experiment incorporating reggae, ragamuffin and hip hop into their independent productions.
Through the years Rankin’ Alpha, lead singer and founder of Dubital, established different collaborations with local and international musicians with styles ranging from classical to free jazz, acid rock, house and rap/ragga. After its early albums, EPs and mixes, in 2000, the band created its own production label The Dub Lab and released “The Dub Lab Sampler” for the Italian electronic label Suiteque, followed by the fusion of dub and electronic styles for European labels and distributors such as Suite Inc., for which they released also the album “Conversation”, Audioglobe, Vitaminic, Edel and Tanty Records.
Alambic Conspiracy, D-Ready and Raviproductions, three artists and friends of the band, have contributed to the creative and innovative process of Dubital and The Dub Lab pushing the band to explore beyond Italy and tour with a Dub/live and DJ set to Switzerland, Germany, France, Croatia and Slovenia since 2003.
Other publications followed, including the production of the album “Bomba Libera Tutti” by the pioneers of reggae in Pistoia (IT) Bomba Bomba, then in 2006, after a French tour backing Mick Harris – Scorn, Lull, Napalm Death, Painkiller… – Dubital landed in Mexico with the formation of The DubLab musicians and created a roots reggae album, “Dubital in Mexico meets Mad Professor” – Global E Rack/Putumayo, 2007 – mixed by Neil Fraser (Mad Professor). While in Mexico, Dubital also produced “Soundtrack 01” for Fashion Week Mexico in October 2006.
