Str888 Up Riddim – Various Artists LP

The DubLab Studio with Mystic MessenJah

Mystic MessenJah and Charly Bendje met for the first time in 2014 while working for a Diverse Collective’s event. In 2019 they organise “Talent Exposure Show”, a live event that took place in early March 2020 at Alchemy in Croydon featuring various artists. The live set was backed by DubHouse Band and it was supposed to become a regular event at Alchemy, but due to the lockdown restrictions and shutting off of all live events, they decided to shift the live project into a discographical experience. The project is directed by Mystic MessenJah, who chose the riddim (paying tribute to the foundation Jamaican label Studio One) and gave it to 13 talented artists to build their own original songs. The riddim was recorded at The DubLab Studio by The DubWise Gang featuring DubHouse Band’s brass section, Jonah Little on sax and Dom Clark on trumpet. All artists’ voices have been recorded at AMP (Alchemy Music Production), The DubLab and Albert Chemist studios. In the same studios different mixing sessions are currently being held to define the final versions for the track list. Mastered at AMP Studio and produced by DR. Love Promotions, the LP riddim album called “Str888 Up Riddim” featuring Angenita Blackwood, Cassie B, Rankin’ Alpha, Jedi Roots, Ova Confident, Anthony John, Desta Zion, Stamina Li, Samurai MC, Ras Howard, Haile Breads, Jah Faith and Mystic MessenJah, including the instrumental dub version, will be released soon!

Jah Faith – I Luv U / Sta’Sax – Breath of Life

Jah Faith
Sta Sax

Following the great experience of collaborating on Str888 Up Riddim album, Mystic MessenJah and Charly Bendje worked together again to build an original riddim for the reggae lover song “I Luv U” by Jah Faith.
The original riddim was arranged and performed by DubHouse band featuring James Shephard on guitar and Sta Sax on saxophone for Jah Faith’s unique voice and mellow lyrics.
Recorded and mixed by Charly Bendje at The DubLab Studio and mastered at AMP (Alchemy Music Production), the 7” vinyl single features (on B side) Sta Sax, also known as Stamina Li, whom recorded a euphonious instrumental version on the same riddim called Breath of Life. Produced by DR. Love Promotion the single is out from 1st of September 2023.

Mystical Roots Warrior meets The DubLab
feat. Ricky Ranking

The encounter of The DubLab with Mystical Roots Warrior was thanks to the common bredren Joseph Rueben (Trinity Allstars Sound System).
Mystical Roots Warrior’s productions are mainly orientated to a digital steppa UK Dub style. For this particular collaboration, the electronic drums loops are swapped with real live drums with the addition of real percussions.
Live instruments are performed and recorded by Charly Bendje at The DubLab Studio, where Marky Roots productions’s sound is also re-elaborated according to The DubLab style, filtered by the vintage analogue equipment in Charly Bendje’s mixing sessions. The collaboration also includes various recording sessions with the great Brixtonian artist Ricky Ranking, held at The DubLab Studio for a Mystical Roots Warrior’s project. Here, Charly added live percussions, live brass and some analogue mixing sessions.
To be released on vinyl soon!
